TalkBlack also provides a megaphone for First Nations people whose voices are too often shut out – Traditional Owners, remote communities, Elders and activists on the front lines.

Since colonisation, there's been a huge amount of ill-informed opinion and culture-war bait around First Nations people and our rights – all while the struggles and lived realities of First Nations people across the continent get sidelined and marginalised.

TalkBlack is an effort to reclaim that space. First Nations people aren't sitting silent – we are standing up, speaking out and acting for ourselves and our futures.

TalkBlack is a GetUp! initiative, led by a team of campaigners, organisers, and editors from the Widjabul Wia-bul, Gooreng Gooreng, Wiradjuri, Noongar, Wakka Wakka, Muluridji and Warumungu Nations.

What will my donation go towards?

TalkBlack is a massive endeavour. By chipping in, you will help:

Fund a First Nations Editor to source and curate First Nations stories from across the country;
Engage a production team to create a brand new podcast to highlight mob and their fight, showcasing the legacy of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander resistance;
Design and build the tech needed to launch chatbots and websites to meet the unique ways First Nations folk interact online;
Employ media experts and campaigners to push key stories onto the national agenda.
